I then get an idea of an original song, and start writing the lyrics immediately. While I play the guitar on my front porch, words start to flow. Niykee says that, even when she's not writing about events that are actually happening the pain due to her childhood and the grief over the loss of her daughter makes it's way into her music. It is important to me to realize that I can hear any of my songs 20 years from now and still be proud of what I had to say.
